After carefully deciding which career I want to pursue i have decided to become a radiology tech. I have put off college for a while and I am now expecting my first child, so needless to say its time to start studying. I know there are a few different ways if becoming an xray tech but i need some good advice because everything I read leads me still confused on the best option for me and my family, I want to be able start my career sooner than later but be able to get the best education. I really want to be able to make this career the best it can be so can anyone break it down on what i should do to make that happen…

In my anatomy and physiology classes I had a few classmates who were x-ray techs. They found a community college ( the one I attended ) and looked at their program. What they did was take all the prerequisites and got prepared for being accepted into the program.
Generally there are the prereq courses that are needed to get in, be sure to try to set enough time to the side to study and do your best to get all A’s. That can be a huge factor on acceptance. Check out some local community colleges or even some universities offer them and check out the accredidations. You do not want to go to a private funded institute. That route would be unrealistically expensive and I believe is not worth the money. Take your time and start with university or community college that offers the program. Best wishes.
Radiologist:
4 years bachelors degree +
4 years medical school +
4-5 years residency
Radiologic technologist:
2 years full time (40 hours per week) at an accredited school
These are completely different careers and educations, so you still have to go through an accredited RT program like everyone else.
